I can't understand what omweather is doing.

Example: I update on Friday. I see a day icon for Saturday. On Saturday I see the moon icon. I update. I see a day (sun or rain) icon. A few hours later: I see the moon icon. I update, it goes back to the sun icon. And so on.

Or, I see the rain symbol. It's sunny outside. I update, it changes to sun. A bit later it's back to the original rain symbol. I update, back to sun.

What on earth is going on here? In case it matters I'm on Central European time.

New version (0.18.4) updates automagically for me just fine.
For those of you having problems, could it be that the ZIP code you're using isn't supported in whatever backend weather server OMweather uses?
Check your logs.

How do you check your logs? I thought I read in this thread that the weather service OM weather uses is weather.com. I can go to the weather.com and input my zip code and get my forecast.

When I try to set up using add station my city is not listed when I input my country and state. I look for cincinnati and it is not listed, which is weird since cincinnati is one of the largest cities in Ohio. I tried selecting another city that was listed, I still could not get OMWeather to update.

I have loaded python 2.5 so I could use Xournal, would that have an impact?

Thanks!
Joe

I'm also in Europe

omweather first tries to show the actual weather, which it gets by frequent updating. If it cannot update, link is down, it shows the last weather forecast it got.

From my experience, weather.com is not the most reliable station, so it can indeed happen that outside it is sunny and omweather shows rain.

But most of the time it is quite ok, especially if automatic updates work.

Take care that you wifi connection is up when the update is started. I update every 30 minutes which is IMHO sufficient.

Try changing how often it refreshes, for some reason mine would only work when set to an 8hr refresh.

Thanks Grue237, I'll try that. I'll have to do that when I get home and connect to my wireless broadband at home. For some reason when I am connected through bluetooth to my phone, OMWeather tells me I am not connected to the internet when I tap update. I can access the internet by pulling up web pages
in the browser.

got home and still no updates. I tried all the different update options, but when I click on the update tab, I get the message "did not ownload weather."

I don't think the problem I see is connection problems. It connects fine. The problem is that it looks like after a while the app. goes back to an _even older_ weather prediction, or, in some cases, it shows night mode. An update fixes that. After a while it's back to the old story again. A new update resets it to current (just like it was after the _previous_ update). Obviously most of that time I wouldn't be online (and I don't know if the earlier pre-18.4 versions did even try to update automatically), but that shouldn't make the current prediction _change_ (or revert or whatever. And what's with the night mode?)

As it is now I don't find omweather very useful, or at least it thoroughly confuses me. kMeteo on my Palm, on the other hand, behaves completely sane. It also updates from weather.com as far as I know.

Should I uninstall previous version before install new?

Tryed update and it didnt work. I have OS2008. And OMweather version is previous one.

When UI try to update is says that my version is installed from other source and I should contact programmer. (Translated from finnish)
