At your destination you'll want more detail so I suggest a zoom of levels 6, 3,2,1,0. That's not too much data and won't take forever to download and is less likely to bomb your SD card (You DO have an SD card right? ).
Another nice thing with MM is that if you walk with your GPS unit you can use it as a "Car locator". If you're in a strange city (as I was earlier this summer). add a POI from your current GPS location when you park and then not to worry about where you left your car, just follow your tracks back or follow the dot.
