wi-fi protected setup compliant and opened network?

Is there a bug with wi-fi protected setup compliant APs that are fully opened?
Why is it asking to touch a button on the AP or enter a PIN if the AP is open?

Just came out of a bar that had this AP that works with other devices but I couldn't get the n900 to connect to it... Am I missing a setting?

I encountered the same problem, although the network I was attempting to connect to had a simple password instead of being entirely open.

In order to get it to work instead of prompting for pressing a button or entering a PIN, I had to go to Settings > Internet connections and walk through the setup step-by-step.

Seems like a bug to me.

    @ chase15

OK, I get as far as "Connections", "New" and scan, finding my Wifi network and enter its key. The Nokia N900 still fails to maintain a connection. What else is wrong?

It's know feature. You can get it working like Chase15 said. You need to put correct key (WPA?) not the pin code.
