As compared to the 5800 the N900 has a very low maximum volume so is their any application or any other method by which i can further increase the maximum volume of N900?

Typically you connect your N900 to a stereo system to get an increase in volume.

In what situation isn't the maximum volume enough?

I find it starts crackling if you go beyond 90% or so for certain media, the speakers themselves already seem to be near the limit

For more volume try alsamixer in xterminal

Code:

alsamixer -c0

The row on the left is the headset. If it is lower than 100 you could raise it.

There are quite a few other settings to play with too.

All I'd like to know is, can't the stereo speakers volume be increased? It is stereo speakers though, and compare it to the Nokia Xpress Music, even my Nokia N82 I have, It's louder? Is it due to battery life? May it lead to speaker damage? or what can be done to increase the stereo speakers volume on the N900?

Also possible to raise the volume for calling with loudspeaker. Volume is to low for calling when driving 120km/h. BB Bold 9700 is just great in that. Love the n900 but the volume on loudspeaker when calling is just to low . . . someone knows which setting to raise in alsamixer? Or is it just not possible?

yes you can do it but the last person to do it blew the speakers in their N900.

have a search for 'boost n900' thread and have a read.

Hmm . . . little strange, because the music volume sounds much louder. Software limited by Nokia?

In the Boost N900 post they talk about mp3's . . . I just want the call volume on the loudspeaker a little bit louder. Is this also getting upped when using the script?
