That's GTA2 and before era graphics.

Even a Nokia S60 phone with an ARM11 369MHz processor running a gba emulator running GTA Advance could do graphics like that.

Those graphics are no where near those of GTA 3:

3D Games are of course possible. I had 3D games with amazing graphics like One on my N95. Not no mention Bounce and Zen Bound on the N900. But GTA 3 graphics? No way .

Too many polygons / interactive objects. The N900 would come close to display those graphics in a very low mode, but still the game wouldn't run. Not on 600MHz. Maybe a if a GTA 3-like game with a bit less detail and directly coded for the N900 would run..but a port?

We could always see if the creator of Payback (Originally out for the Amiga, then ported to BGA, and now iPhone it seems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlHFtWw4B1A ) would be up for porting it...

I paid ~$400 for a damn PSP when it just came out, hoping to play my favorite games on the go. I was in junior high and I played it a lot, but, when I think about it today it's not what I got. I didn't get the games I really wanted, games some of you already mentioned - classics like Diablo 2, Warcraft, Half Life, etc. It's ridiculous to ask for direct ports but it's kinda what I wish for. I just know for sure these games are awesome.

I'd easily pay $500 or $600 for being able to play those anywhere. That's why I am aiming for a Windows 7 based tablet, actually. I don't want sleek menus and shiny touch apps, I want my sluggish windows with my classic games and software.

I sorta went off topic tho, you guys are talking about ports for the N900. I stopped fantasizing about Maemo gaming Today I try to enjoy what it actually does best - photography, internet, etc. and leave it at that.

I think you're ignoring the fact that drnoksnes, picdrive and scummvm to name a few run perfectly on the n900. I have a lot of gaming hours spent on those emulators.

True, there are some very good games for Maemo 5 that work perfectly. Hopefully there will be more to come.

Edit: Goldeneye on N900 would just make my head explode. Even at 10FPS.
