My girlfriend & I both have N900's. When she hooks her phone up her laptop OSX 10.5 she gets a nice N900 icon & inside are all her folders (images, ect.)

When I hook my N900 up to my laptop.. i get a Generic Mounted white disk & all the N900 folders are hidden?

We have tried using both computers & the result is the same?

What is in her N900 that allows her the fancy data management that mine is lacking?

Thanks :-)

Are ALL of your folders hidden?

But yeah there's something wrong, it sounds like. My N900's icon looks just like the phone.

What version of OSX are you using? You only mentioned that your girlfriend was using 10.5.

I am using 10.6, but it does not matter, when I plug my N900 into hers, it shows just a white mounted disk, she gets the N900 Icon? Is there something missing off my phone?

Hmmmmm

Can you browse the phone in the Terminal?

I obviously don't have a solution to your problem, unless you want to back everything up and reflash.

I bought the phone used & have debated doing a re-flash just cause... I have the 770 flasher already & just need to re-read all the step by steps. Little quirky stuff like this should be solved

Sounds like you deleted the "Mac OS" folder and other files from your flash. http://filebeam.com/e86c52bdb1707ebcd51eeb04f506357b
Unzip it into root of flashcard.

Above poster is right, chances are you deleted your Mac OS folder (as, being based on unix... it doesn't see folders beginning with a .). If you are going to reflash however... 770 flasher isn't what you need... that's for the 770...

Guys, I had same problem. Somehow the icon and other MacOS resourses lost. The folder MacOS on N900 normally contains aliases to .video and other folders hidden from Unix POV. In my case icon and aliases remained but didn't work on my Mac, they were just grey-out.
First of all I opened it with a file browser that sees invisible files (ForkLift in my case). As workout I opened the icon file with Iconographer and resaved it into a folder (e.g. made a folder icon). Then with Finder selected Get info from File menu (Cmd+I). In the Get info window there is the icon in the top left corner. Click on it to select and copy to clipboard (Cmd+C). The repeat these steps with the N900 white regular disk icon. After clicking the icon Paste (Cmd+V) instead of Copy. Voila, you copy-paste the icon. In your case you can borrow the icon from your girlfriend's N900.
As for the aliases, look for the .documents, .videos, .sounds and .images folders (they are invisible as well, you need a file browser capable to show them on Mac). Then just make aliases with standard MacOS way and rename them to Documents, Movies, Sounds and Pictures respectively or whatever names you prefer for them. Then put them into Mac OS folder.

Yeah I tried putting the folder back in & no luck? Yeah, your right, that folder was no longer on my mac? I put it in the root & still nothing. Looks like whenever it got deleted, it just does not want to fix itself now?
