My N900 is one month old. For the last week or so, it has become very slow. Issues noted,
1. I was playing Angry Birds, a Call came in (vibration mode). Touchscreen became unresponsive, screen went black, phone application appeared too late and the call was missed. For the first time ever.
2. Audio stutters badly at the beginning of the songs. If you browsing simultaneously, it stutters more.
3. Sometimes, video slows down as well. But it is managable.
4. X-org consistantly at 6-8% CPU. Is that normal?
I don't have a lot of applications installed and certainly none from dev or testing. Have FM transmitter widget, WiFi switcher, Camera Cover reminder and MediaBox. Whenever I tried "top" command, I don't see any applications spiking CPU too much. 73% used rootfs.
I simply couldn't figure out what is causing the slow down. I know there are couple other threads discussing similar issues, but, found no answers. I would be grateful if someone can help me fix this. Thanks in advance.
Regarding the audio issue, how much songs/video's do you have on your phone?
I had seen the same issue with the earlier version of the software, but the new version seems to have made it a bit better.
Just for comparison, Xorg for me is hovering around 2 to 6%.
I've come to expect that from mine. Takes it about 2-3 seconds sometimes for the phone app to display on the screen where I can tap the accept button on the call. If I hold it sideways, even more time for it to figure out it needs to rotate the screen. On top of that, I use Skype calling as my main way to call..so more lag on the call in the initial 5-10 seconds. Dunno, I think sometimes the OS is trying to do way too much in the background. I constantly have to go kill the tracker process so it'll stop scanning and indexing my media.
I have about 9 GB of Songs and Videos. I am using PR1.2.
There was one specific bug fixed related to Songs stuttering while browsing. This pulseaudio related fix will be out in future updates (not necessarily the next update). But, I am not convinced it is going to fix the entire "slowing down" issue..
I had a lot of hopes for N900. I still want to install Citrix ICA client and work from my bed :-). But, I am afraid to install anything now :-(
Happened to me a few times as well. Mostly when I was using the media player. The OS should make receiving calls the absolute priority for the CPU but it doesn't seem like it.
The media player just brings my N900 to its knees. It is incredibly slow, sometimes takes almost a minute to start playing a song and then stutters and skips for the next 5 minutes. And that's when it doesn't just crash. Plus everything else in the device becomes super sluggish. I just can't understand it.
The phone becomes sloW when you install apps, games, and other stuff that doesn't come from NOKIA, I never installed any such software on my n900...and that's why my n900 i so Super Fassst!

P.S do you get it???
I guess this must be the reason for which the people never given you any thanks!

believe me, I know, i had many nokia device's, and like i said if you install applications that does not come from NOKIA than you are in trouble(your device begins lagging...etc.) UNFORTUNATELY IT IS TRUE!
And btw i dont care if someone say thanks or not...I really dont care?!
