Hello everyone just got my n900 on monday thanks to the price drop at dell. I have been doing little things so far just installed a deb program and using it on the web. So far everything works great. Just my videos are a little choppy on vimeo but i am assuming that is cos of the size and quality

    hello all ......
been following this community since sept 2009, didn't bother to register as I am pretty much a linux noob...didn't wanna bother you guys here hehe.......but have had my share of reading....and I must conclude that this is an awsome community...
and I am totally in love with maemo like most guys/dolls here....
I bought the N900 (nov 2009)for what it was advertised, and totally love it...
I do not miss portrait mode or the other short comings as some keep ranting about......feels more like a computer as it is....
have seen the meego 1.0 UI its more phone oriented.....think maemo UI is better and different than everything else ...really want a mobile computer not a smartphone

Greetings from Colombia! I got my N900 back in december and I love it! Missed a couple of things coming from an N95 but they are getting done everyday!! Despite the fact that I'm a total noob regarding LINUX, PYTHON. DEBIAN and so on ( not a noob but almost stupid) I've been learning a lot through the community...
I am just an eye surgeon so I am going to be asking (already have been) a lot of amateur questions -forgive me in advance- ... If anyone have issues with his/her eyes PM me ..in that I can help!
    Cheers!!

    New N900 user here.

I've known for a while that Nokia makes great phones. But I have been with Sprint for 12 years. Never had any problems, but finally just wanted an upgrade after having some serious issues with the Palm Pre, and finding the Samsung Moment just a little too buggy for me. Sprint has always had good service, but since my Blackberry (which was great), I've had bad luck in the past year or so, and I just wanted to give something different a try.

So I figure that if I was going to do it, I was going to do it right. No iPhone for me, because I want a keyboard. So straight to the N900 it is.

I'm a 3rd-year medical student, and I use my PDA a lot. Looking stuff up, etc., and I love the potential of the N900.

I also am in buildings (hospitals) that don't get great cell signals, so I like the voip capabilities of the phone. My mother is friends with an executive for VoxCorp, so I got their service too. Works beautifully over WiFi and 3G, but is a little shaky on anything less.

So I'm switching it all over to T-Mobile, and keeping the VoxCorp for when I don't have reception.

Anyway, I think this thing has a lot of potential, and I am eagerly awaiting developers to support it in the way that they should.

    Hi everyone!

New Nokia user since today here. I chose it mostly for the OS, being a gnu/linux (gentoo and debian) user for years.

OK I've only had it for a couple of hours, but I find it awesome.. Can't wait to play with it some more, so I'll just stop here and put my hands on it :-D

Welcome to the mad world of Maemo! You should really start investigating - if not to help with writing application (which everybody would love you for ), at least just because there's a lot of fun to be had when hacking your own little phone computer.

    Hello everybody!

I'm a Kubuntu user since a couple years, and Linux user even before, I don't really remember how I found this site and N900, but I liked it very much and now I've been able to buy one. I'm not programmer, but I like to learn and try new things, and I am in favor of open source movement and freedom, and that's mainly the reason I bought this device (Altough its power helped too)...

    Hope to be useful,
    greetings!

    Greetings from Greece.
I started with a N810 only some months ago and I was very satisfied with what I coud do. So I took the next logical step and I am now the proud owner of a N900.
    Regards.
