    Hi pycage.
    Thank you for the updates.

    Some thoughts about 2010.06.26:
    N810:
    - battery drain is here, if logs are needed, I can attach some at home.

    N900:
    - from time to time I get my device recognized as N8x0, because of removed osso-software-version (I have no clue at the moment, how it could've happened). I've created /etc/osso_software_version with right line, but it doesn't help much. What's about parsing /tmp/.opi.tmp instead of /etc/osso_software_version?

    About widget:
    - play/pause via D-Bus doesn't work neither in 2010.06.26, nor in SVN version, though methods are there.
    - fixing above issue stops me from release at the moment.
    - first will be released version for OS2008.
    - version for Maemo 5 will be released as soon as I get rid of those nasty segfaults.
    - waiting for tags and other stuff via D-Bus

Keep up the good work and thank you for the app again.

I was able to reproduce this. It's mplayer not being killed.

Now this is weird. Actually I check the apt repository lists for fremantle entries. /tmp/.opi.tmp is new to me. I'll be checking it. Thanks!

Indeed. Another bug to fix. :|

The next version should have this fixed.

    Good luck with the segfaults.

A D-Bus tag signal exists. Possible keys are TITLE, ARTIST, ALBUM.
    Code:
        @dbus.service.signal("de.pycage.mediabox.control", "ss")
        def tag_signal(self, key, value): pass
I'm looking forward to the widget.

Mediabox is best media player. Neither functionality nor eye-candy are sacrificed.

    Features I would like:
    * Integration with Pandora would be AWESOME. I use Pandora all the time.
    * Be able to go to next/previous picture in photo/full-screen mode.
    * Thinner rows so more songs display on screen at once.
    * I miss the "world clock" homescreen.
    * New media type: eBooks/PDFs with cover display like pictures.

My most desirable feature would be a built-in equalizer. ...that doesn't take 40% CPU usage.

Well, I did some research, it's because of all the repos disabled As I had no time to figure out, how to disable Application Manager's autoupdating, I sometimes disable repos to save some 3G traffic.

It's trully does, but I had never seen it being emitted May be because of formats I use (Ogg and FLAC).

Unfortunately I live in a country where Pandora isn't available. So I can't help you here. However maybe there's a way to make a plugin based on or interfacing with pyradio Pandora client.

I am experiencing a similar problem playing music. After using MediaBox to play music on a USB thumb drive, after I closed MediaBox I did a software disconnect of my thumb drive and it failed, saying files are still open. In the list of processes, I could see osso-media-server still running even after MediaBox was closed. That seemed suspicious. I killed that process & I was able to disconnect my thumb drive right away after that.

Good to see that this app made it to Extras. I like the app a lot but I still have the very same bug, which I've had since the Extras-testing. My tags are not showing up correctly, when I'm browsing the files. E.g. I get for Viola their cover and it's named as "unknown artist". However, this doesn't happen when I'm playing the file itself, there it is tagged correctly.

Odd. Any suggestions to fix the browsing-tags?

Look like I have missing packages and now I am not able to install any application or remove media box.

I have Mediabox Media center 2010.06.26 and if I try to uninstall it from app manager I have one error saying that other packages are using this app
    (mediabox-youtube and mediabox-internet-radio).

So I have tried to remove the two packages but app manager crash.

If I try to run from terminal:

    Code:
    apt-get remove mediabox

    I have the following:

    Code:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 3 to remove and 4 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.

    after confirmation

    Code:
dpkg: parse error, in file '/var/lib/dpkg/available' near line 5277:
    missing package name

    E: Sub-process /urs/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

    Anyone have an idea?
I have the same problem with my N810 after installing this version of MediaBox, except that after confirmation I get:

    Code:
dpkg: failed to open package info file `/var/lib/dpkg/available' for reading: Input/output error
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
    And /var/lib/dpkg/available does not exist.

    Could anybody help me, please?
