Actually, the N900 is really a mid-2009 phone. The hardware was completely finished back in late August (remember Eldar's review? the devices they gave out at the Summit?), but it took them four more months to get the software in good enough shape to release...

You cannot compare by just that with these NEW phones, and it is unfair as they are new and N900 was released a year ago.

I also like Android what it has been doing nowadays, but Android can perform very well only when they are on GHz processors. When they run on 600mhz like with N900, they will just suck, lag and suck.

Most people always want something that is at its very best among others, but they forgot to consider what their current device has done for them.

But that's your money, buy the best one, then dump it again next year.

All the other smart phones have 512mb ram
    We get just 256

Our screens dont have retina or amoled technologies

We dont get HDMI out or wireless dlna but just generic VGA

Many other smartphones get wireless n speeds of 200mbps
    we get just 54mbps

Many other smartphones have 1280x760 video resolution @ 30fps
    we have a lousy 800x400 resolution @ 20~fps

Other smartphones are sleek, sharp and light,
Our phones are bricks and heavy

Other smartphones get better battery's and better battery life.
We get virtually the worst battery life of all smart phones

Other smartphone's graphics chip push almost 30 gpu triangles/s
Our phones graphics chip pushs just 14 gpu triangles/s

    Please discuss ! thanks

For what it is worth, given when it came out, it took months for anything to surpass it. And with some overclocking, it still hangs with the best in terms of usability.

Even I can say that without an ounce of doubt.

The VGA out though... I have to admit that was surprising when it was announced.

Yay, another troll, one more deluded individual making grandiose claims about hardware that does not generally exist on the open market yet, anywhere, and then comparing this all to the N900.

Well played good sir, well played. In summary, you are a <4 letter word> (Feel free to insert your own descriptive term)

Also the way in which skype is built into the n900 is frankly amazing, no applications required at all and it just works!!

No other phone comes close to this yet - at least not android or iphone, both require separate applications!

I think Nokia N900 should have been made somewhat far more superior than the iphone 3GS in term of hardware spec. But yet the 3GS got an ARM cortex A8 CPU that run at 833Mhz but down grade to 600Mhz with better GPU almost double of N900.

3GS is out like 1year before N900. Still the hardware pretty damn smarter than what Nokia built into N900. I was hoping something better in term of CPU + GPU + RAM. But I think Nokia doesn't want to care about that, Nokia paying for a cheaper hardware and make it sound top notch better than any other phone. But seriouisly the hardware Nokia bought from TI could have been much better for their production phone. Not to mention their software is not polished even with PR1.2.

Enough of the hardware issues, lets face the supporting issues. Maemo 5 came out in production for 4months and Nokia already dropped their balls and undies to go with MeeGo after announced QT4.6!!

Yet Nokia said N900 will get MeeGO because of N900 is the only device out there for developer to start programming in MeeGO. But after the good news come with a heart broken news, N900 will not officially supported by Nokia with MeeGO. How foolish is that?

Customers paid for a device that they love and hoping for the best future but end up disappointed 4months after. I love my N900, but Nokia could have done much better with their marketing, instead of fraud and dishonesty.

Simply admit that NOKIA N900 will not get MEEGO or Maemo 5 is no longer a priority to media around the world, then I believe the N900 will be totally dead.

Iphone 4G 5Mp camera can do 30fps with 720p resolution, why can't N900 5Mp camera do 30fps with just 848x480 pixel? Why can't N900 pause and resume while video recording? Why can't N900 get autofocus while recording?? It's only software!! Why not possible? is this meant Maemo5 somewhat shittier than the shittty iOS4? **** Nokia

Insert your word here: Nokia <* Censored*> and <*******>

Wohoo I felt much better after spitting these out lol. thank god, my frustration is less than before.

i explain that this phone is more of a computer and less of phone and show neat things like overclocking/undervolting n64 roms running great, full web browsing

but he says he either has an app for it or doesnt need the feature
he argues the app centric model of phones is ideal and the way of the future...?

Tell him that you don't need the features of his phone that you are so jealous of either. And then beat him over the head with your heavier, chunkier phone.

    .
3GS is totally out-dated. N900 has almost 3 times more pixels, 900 MHz 3g, Flash, fm-transmitter, true multitasking, keyboard etc.
