Yes, i've understood late. That was a joke

Thanks lot for everything: when my second 770 will return from the repai center, i'll install on it the HE, for trying.

So you folks say that the HE edition is better than the 2006? I've read in other posts and on the net that it has some problem, such as the browser web that, for "licensining" problem, is not iinstalled, is it true?

Re: OS2007 Hacker edition 4.2007.36 available

First impression
===========
Extremely impressed with this recently released 2007He2007.36-2 version for the 770. The file manager is completely compatible with 2006OS. The prev 2007He (2006.47) version file manager can only read the name of the file, but not execute the file, e.g. you cant even delete the file if file was created under 2006OS and browse under 2007He (3rd party SW is case by case, spreadsheet yes to read but not ren or del, MM route/track cant even read. maps are the same though). For people that flip back and forth with 2007He2006.47 (old one), and 2006OS, like myself (I use 2006OS ONLY for video media, I use 2007He for everything else), I have to keep a copy for each OS, it is headache on management and it wasted tons of space. Now it is over, the new 2007He2007.36-2 does not have this problem. I immediately del dup copies and reclaim space. Space is v precious for a 1G MMC. And yes, 2006OS is able to execute/ren/del files created under 2007He2007.

The new 2007He employed 'similar' GUI as the old one. Some people expressed disappointment. I really dont care, GUI is just a skin, I can put on any skin I want. On a user level point of view (I know, not a double blind scientific comparision with p<.05 bla bla bla), opera browser is more stable, app installation is more smooth (I did not really check, I restore from my own backup, and re-install all the SW, did not encounter even one dependency problem, I am not quite sure, whether the restore or the new version takes care of the dependency problem.)

I use spreadsheet/calender for business, webserving for break/entertainment, video/music for leisure, the first 2 category have improved. Video remains to be try out, 2 out 3 aint bad.

Yes? I heard you, somebody is goin to ask that question "should I upgrade or should I stay with 2006OS?" If you use a lot video media, and HATE to switch, (this is a blatan lie, it is a re-boot, not a switch), between 2007He and 2006OS, I would stay with 2006OS. Other than that, I see absolutely NO reason not to upgrade. "the upgrade is painful", nay, if you always save a copy of the sw before installation, the re-installation is a piece of cake. As a matter of fact, I always format Harddrive and re-install SW every now and then, it is "healthier" and the system runs MUCH smoother in general, any OS or any PC.

and the rest of the thread.

There is NO reason NOT to upgrade, other than for the video.

I've upgraded (when i'll have enough time i'll copy the os on the mmc to speed up as adviced).
Very stable and smooth. Not even comparable to the last release.

However, the videos play great, what kind of problems do you experience?

A doubt: the browser that i'm using now on the 2007he to write this post is the opera 8? 8.5? or microb?

Are you saying you've got the flash videos playing properly? I can't get it to work, even when I set it to low quality. The video smears and there is no audio that can be heard.

No, i was referring to local video playback. Youtube doesn't work, but it's overall ok for me.

I've installed the os on the mmc. Beutifull, as adviced before.
But: if i have to reflash the flash memory with the it 2006, then can i reinstall the boot menu and continue to use the os (version 2007) installed on the mmc?

Okay, I did the Flash 9 thing, but I have a question. How can you tell if you truly have Flash 9 on it? I followed all the steps and I just want to make sure.

Search using Google for "Flash 9 test page" and visit the page "Version test for Adobe Flash Player". Alternatively hold the stylus on a flash advert or video until the Flash menu appears then select "About Adobe Flash Player 9..."

Hmm....I followed the instructions, but it didn't seem to work. I can't view the flash file. I tried on a diff. comp., and it views it fine, but not on my 770.
