DroidX ... its okay but certainly not the best

unlike the Droid/Milestone which was the best Android qwerty-slide phone ... scratch that it is the best smartphone out there.

It has one of the best feature list: GSM, camera etc etc
It has one of the best processor/GPU/DSP combination
It has a beautiful hardware/casing/buttons (qwerty is somewhat bad but the GameGripper is good news)
It packages this with an acceptable battery life and acceptable OS.

...or until the Epic 4G comes

I bought a Milestone last week. I think that device has done a huge amount of RIGHTS and very little WRONGS.. at least from my short experience with it so far.

    Kudos to Moto.

But I agree with Kangal, Epic 4G is truly epic!
I would get a galaxy s/vibrant for tmo but no front facing camera and no camera flash are big no no's

The droid x bootloader is locked, you can root it bit cant flash custom roms which is lame. I beleive locking iybdown was a bad move.

Played with it today and it's pretty impressive. I like the fact you can resize widgets too. The browser was a lot faster than the n900's

I'm not sure what Motorola hopes to achieve by this.

Well... If you accept the fact that it is unmoddable (it selfdestruct if you try)
and you're left on Motorola mercy forever with no path for community upgrade (much alike with Nokia's NITs) - it's a great device.

I was really waiting for new Milestone XT720 release - it looks like a dream platform to port Maemo/Meego to. But I more than sure, that it is "protected" with selfdestruct hardware too.
And to my knowledge only Nokia and Motorola make OMAP based devices. So, we're really left with whatever crap Nokia has to offer us in the future At least it is basically open crap.
