nope i wouldn't, the simple reason being that phones are my poison, whether they end up good or bad, i just have to change it for something different. i'm hoping that HTC are taking notice of andrew kims concept of the htc 1, because that phone is gadget porn.
given i didn't actually 'pay' for my n900 in the first place ('free' on contract) cost ain't an issue for me. if it were, my answer would be no. advancements in the last year have put the n900's cpu in a much lower league compared to recent devices so on that basis, no, i wouldn't replace a year-old device with a year-old device.
saying that, i'm quite certain that i'm taking my n900 for granted and that within two weeks i would have made a long list of things i'm missing and that other phones can't do. happy with it for now, but will happily upgrade when my contract renews in a year.
I don't think I would either. I love the N900 as it is for what it is... but after the half-@$$ed support from Nokia, I'm not purchasing another one again.
I did drop mine down the toilet and it didn't affect it. Takes more than water to break a brick.
If I did break it though there's no way I would buy another one, mostly for pragmatic reasons (not the idealised fanboy-ism of others):
1. Its year old hardware. 2. Software/OS's have moved on a lot as well as the hardware in the last year. 3. You can't even get it new now - and I'd always avoid second hand phones.

Last week I did not drop my beloved N900 down the toilet but managed to brick it by inadvertently pouring hot water nearby that soaked through its case. I looked at trying a Milestone as a replacement but got put off by the mixed reviews and lack of FM radio, a must for me.
So, I shopped around for an good used N900, which led me to Carphone Watehouse and I purchased a used, 14 day return from them @ £265 including a O2 sim. The phone is immaculate, unlocked and unbranded, so I was able to pop in my T Mobile sim and get going!
Why did I buy another N900? Because I like the crazy thing! Ok, its got a terrible battery life and is buggy. However, I love the way that people like you have steadily been improving the handset through apps like FMMS and others. I love its messaging and browser too! Its a valuble tool for both communications and entertainment and will get better with your continued support.
Would I buy another - No. Why? Because I already have a brand new in-the-box spare just in case!
Sure there are things I'd like improved on the N900, especially battery life. But the broad market (apparently) doesn't care about battery life, real world useability, user programmability, etc. It only cares about shiney-shiney and 'mines newer, and more blingy than yours'. So on the odd occasion that a device escapes into the real world without the marketing department fscking it up, I reckon it's worth grabbing a spare :-)
100% definitely YES !! (Although, it is highly impossible I would drop this phone as I love this phone more than my wife..)
I am no programmer or software developer.. But I absolutely love this phone, both for my Business use & Personal use..
I dont think there is any phone that even comes close to being as perfect as the Nokia N900..
And many many thanks to several programmers & experts on Maemo, they have helped in using the N900 to the optimum with their different programs & softwares and help..
