Hey, I seem to have a problem with my n900.
Once I boot up the phone, the phone works extremely fast and everything. Its quite satisfactory.
But later on, after It being on for 2 days at a stretch, the phone gets extremely laggy and unresponsive. Everything is really slow and takes forever.
I couldnt even pick up a phone call when I was on the app manager, browsing.
Once I reboot the phone, its back to awesomeness.(for 2 days)
Any Idea?
Does anyone have the same problem?
Most likely some process is allocating memory all the time without letting go of it. This forces the kernel to put other processes in the swap to make room for the running ones.
In your XTerminal, run the command top and press m to sort by memory usage and check for processes that use a lot of memory. It's also good to look for processes that use a lot of CPU.

oh!
mem : 237676k used, 7312 free, 0k shrd, 1468k buff, 41544k c.
cpue :2.7%usr 1.5% sys 0.1% nice (changes from 96 84 n 69 %) idle 5.1% io 0.0
and usr/sbin/browserd is highest with 7.7 %.
what application is that?
im not running ANYTHING in the background.
what do I do to fix this?
Is your device as unresponsive now as you described it in your initial post?
browserd is a daemon process that waits for you to start the browser. By using a daemon like this, start up times are kept to a minimum.
oh okay..
any idea on how to speed things up?
btw, ive installed the kernel for overclocking..but i havent overclocked.its still 250 to 600 now.
it lasts longer on the stability side, but battery wise not overclocking sucks.
and when i overclock it gets unresponsive in a day n a half.
n e idea on how to fix this?
i really dont want to reboot my phone every 2 3 days
You can leave the mass memory intact first, and see if any improvement happened. This will erase installed apps and settings, nothing more. (but of course it is good idea to take a backup if you have something important on the phone)

oh no man..i really dont want to flash my phone..that would be my LAST option.
btw on conky, my Memory ("Mem:" rite below cpu usage on the right) is constantly high..its red n its almost full..could that be my culprit?
could buying a class six memory card and using it as ram fix things?
It would slow down anyway, just a little slower. Still, most reports say that under 48 hours it becomes slow. Best way to check is CPU usage when unlocking, as the hildon whatchamacallit is getting worse. I think it's memory fragmentation.
Point is, wither live with a crippled device or schedule 4AM reboots. I chose b).
Get Alarmed and schedule reboots. What's the loss?
