If you have home owner's or renter's insurance, it may be covered. You should check. Although the replacement cost may below your deductible.

myTouch 3G is the worst phone. I made the mistake of getting one with a tmo contract - sold it one month later.

I had it rooted, overclocked, etc., and I still hated it.

LOL....it's pretty bad but it'll keep me busy for a while...I'm sure I'll miss my N900 enough to buy another one soon...the local craigslist does sell them but I'm not so sure about buying used....

I was robbed in my third world country so no hope for me to getting it back...I went and bought another one the next day...mainly cause this community and its potential, though I'm a noob (not even that..let's say stupid) regarding linux and python and everything I've been learning a lot!! and loving my phone (though I come from a N95, which is a better PHONE) but despite its little bugs I just cant go to another one now...Greetings from Colombia...and never leave your phone unattended!!
PS: can I report it to nokia? how? i dont have the references..unless they are in the box...that I still keep...snif!

Sorry to hear that ... Now about your replacement choice, you should have bought a Hd2:

or a Nexus One. As far as hardware goes the mytouch 3g is not any different from the G1 wich are 1st generation Android devices.

No doubt the 'new owner' will be on these boards shortly whining about some aspect or other. I can see it now.

"I stole this N900 and it is a piece of crap. Portrait mode is only partly supported, USSD doesn't work, and when I reflashed it it sent a message to Nokia! The only reason I grabbed it was because I thought it was an iPhone."

Sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. I got nailed for over $3000 worth of cell phones when my home was burglarized. I was left with only the three I had on me at the time.

As for feeling sorry for you, I can't really. How could you leave your phone on the ground and walk away from it?

Anyway, I agree with tzsm98. The thief prolly picked up the phone and was like "whoa I just got an awesome looking phone". Then he took it home, turned it on and was like "WTF?"

He's prolly trying to find YOU just so he could kick your *** for making him waste his time with the N900.

    Watch your back...

thanks for the laughs, guys...lol...I learned an expensive lesson the hard way...lol...I bought the mytouch obviously not to replace my stolen phone but to have a usable phone that will also cater to my curious self too...I just can't justify another 300+...I am planning to get an HD2 but if I was to spend that much, why not just another N900...lol...

@Ajjara - Your N900 box should have a sticker on the side that also have the IMEI number written on it. This is all Nokia need, I think.

So I went out and bought a used mytouch3g...why? cuz I can't justify spending another 300+ for another n900. Also the single fact that my house has bad receptions and I could barely hear people when talking to them in my house. This was the first nokia device/phone that was giving me trouble. Even when I have good reception, some call will be super low and I have to put on speaker just to hear them. It might just be a hardware problem. If it wasn't for this problem, I would have buy another n900 already. (and I only spent 100 for the mytouch...I know...I know...it's almost 1/3 of the n900 already...I guess 1/3 of price will only yield 1/3 of usabillity...)

Using android just made me realize how much it sucks. Not to bad mouth them but the browser doesn't compare to microb at all. I can't believe I regretted choosing N900 over Nexus One. The only thing android and iphone have on the N900 really is the appstore/market...

So the lesson? Um...bring a cheapo phone with you to the park instead of your precious baby...lol...I should be laughing but it's the only way to mask the hurt...
take it back and get a mytouch slide or a samsung vibrant
