Good app it may be but what I see is someones homework being sold as nokia software development. Have they ever tried to solve a problem this forum actively wanted?

This came out of research work to be published at SIGGRAPH. It's a collaboration between Stanford and Nokia Research Centre. They've released an API for advanced development, and an example application which uses this API, and all the source for all of this. Which part of this is "homework"?

Sure. There have been many threads about the poor quality of the N900's built-in camera app. This is a great opportunity for something better.

Now if Nokia would REPLACE their ugly-as-mortal-sin proprietary crap camera app with this as part of the actual OS image, so you don't have to have your precious app installation space occupied by that worthless version, instead blessed with this much better open-source version... Nokia would garnish that TINY bit more respect and be able to claim they opened a tiny bit more of the OS to the community. (Mind you, as I've always kinda suspected.. they would be claiming openness credit on someone's else's efforts despite inconsiderately CLOSED-SOURCE coding their own applications and drivers from the start.)
Anyway, it would help that TINY bit for Nokia. I feel like Stanford gets most of the credit for this, considering how Nokia coded their own crap closed. Props to the Stanford guys! A little grudging props to Nokia--at least they FINALLY did the right thing.
This app is or should be the start of DECENT apps for the N900 so let's hope Nokia (thick as pigswill) learn by the fantastic work by these guys and start to get the "we WILL support the N900" in their dopey support dept going !!.
God knows we need this and many many more so come on get moving Nokia !!!.
doesn't titans kernel prompt that it might break something when installed or in the future? it really should.....
e: you just can't install any app anywhere and expect that everything else works perfectly...
i know the warning which prompt while having titans kernel thats why i am asking u !if u don't have any answer or gonna help then leave it,this forums for users and beta apps users for all including developer to root bugs and further improvement, seeing ur profile u even not a dev and predenting like ones,if we did not try extra, devels or other repo. then how could we have usefull apps for free,
Maybe,it is better u should hang more in OVI store then here.
