    HELP!how to translate English to Chinese?

    Pick up a local SIM card
    SIM card with CMCC 100 RMB
    Turned on GPRS (I guess ChinaTelecom has 3g?)

    try installing SCIM (otherwise no data chinese entry)

    Here is what I did when there:
    One way is to used a huge 1 page txt list for a dictionary and then grep from the command line to find the translations...

    Download City information via wikitravel.org
    http://wikitravel.org/en/Beijing
    Download large data at wifi hot spots - wifi place (Starbucks etc)
    Do not use Boingo - rip off

    dictionaries
    http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php?page=cedict
    http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php
    phrases (online)
    http://chinese.travel-way.net/

    3000 common characters (very nice list you can download so you can view offline)

    how do i use those dictionaries once i download it?

    You can download a bunch of Chinese-English, English-Chinese dictionaries from
    here.

    Unzip the file, and copy the directories you need into
    /home/user/MyDocs/mstardict/

    Enjoy
