Haha i watched the iphone conference where steve jobs talked about every smart phones will lose signal. I tested by holding it both hands and covered up all sides and back and even some of the screen. The result is dropped signal from 5bars to 3bars in 5minutes. But it doesn't dropped more than that. So his argument is correct but not entirely correct. His words is very vague and a lot of bullshitting fact based on entirely information that quite hard to believe.

Anyway give it a try lol, after half an hour the singal still 3bars so i gave up.

Nokia did a really good job on the N900 antenna

I think if Steve Jobs wants to "prove" signal loss he should shove it up his ar5e.

He does have a habit of talking from it.

According to the Stiftung Warentest, only a touch of a finger over the antenna gap in the bottom left corner is enough for the iPhone 4 to lose up to 90 percent of the signal. And, depending on the strength of thе network signal, that can easily lead to dropped calls.

Apple truly sucks !

I indeed did hold the damn thing for 30minutes and got a cramp after that lol. To be honest the antenna of the N900 is amazingly reliable. This mean that it will hardly drop calls. No wander why apple didn't take the N900 as their test subject like the N97MINI. To lose a signal you'll have to covered up an entire physical body of the device. It's unrealistic and unpractical for everyday behaviour. So everyday use will not drop any signal at all.

I laugh when watching Steve Jobs conference haha. So much shiit came out of his mouth. I want to stick my N900 up his arse to show that N900 isn't dropping any signal like he claimed.

Well, I tried doing it with my N900. After covering the whole device with two hands, I couldn't trigger any signal loss. I'm on a 2.5G network.

Although I must admit that I got bored after a minute of trying.

I must also note that I didn't try locking the device into a box made of lead, but that (depending on the thickness of the box) may do the trick.

I believe you need to try the apple antenna test chamber lol. I don't see that chamber being anything helpful in testing their iphone singal strength. After all with all the entension of testing done in that chamber still makes the iphone signal strength sux as usual.

To make the N900 lose 1bar you'll need to cover up all edges and partially back cover. Quite hard to find the precise weak spot but it is there. Just too small i think.
