If i dont get Flash 10 or Meego. I will never buy another Nokia device. Very poor software support. Im tired of this crap. Nokia will see the light soon but it will be too late.

Buying a new phone depends on my needs which is found in specification of the phone not in the phone brand, it is the difference between fanboys and non-fanboys.

If I were looking for a GNU/Linux pocketable with cell phone capabilities, is there anything out there but a Nokia?

the N900 proves that Nokia has the vision to make a device with great potential. Maybe the successor with be the real deal. I can say that I wont be preorder it. Ive done that with the N97 and N900 and ended up buying it in the flagship store before the preorder shipped. But im interested for sure. Ill never go the iphone way again(i had a 1st gen iphone) or windows(i had an htc fuze)....so who knows?

On the plus side, the N900 is probably the best bit of hardware I have owned for a phone
On the minus side, the waiting around for updates such as flash and turn by turn navigation.

Having said that - it will be a while before Im ready to switch phones, as the N900 does pretty much what i want it to do apart from the two things listed above..

That's like saying Toyota has no support because BMW has set the bar so much higher. BMW setting a high bar has no impact on how well Toyota supports it's products. Saying support other places is better is fine, it's objective and people can read such a statement as opinion. Saying there is no support is something different, it's a statement of fact (or non-fact in this case). The OP is saying there's no support, which having 3 releases in under a year would seem to debunk.

Overall, I've been pretty happy with where the N900 is and how open it's been. It could have been more open, but it could have also been much worse. (See Openmoko / FreeRunner) This phone does nothing to make me adhere to brand loyalty, nor shy away from Nokia in the future.

My last phone was a Nokia N95 & now i have an N900, without a shadow of a doubt i would buy another Nokia.

Not because i am a fanboy but because i do my research before i buy any new device and dont have any false expectations or hope!

The N95 surpassed my expectations & is the only phone i have EVER owned that has survived the duration of an 18mth contract! I even sold it recently and got £85!

Similarly the N900 has surpassed my expectations in terms of software, flexibility & build quality.

Do your research, start out with realistic expectations and accurate information. If it then doesnt meet those expectations sell it and get something else.
