the batteries have different discharge curves. cheap batteries usually maintain certain voltage and it drops to 0% almost instantly when there is no juice left.
it is deliberate feature yes, but from 3rd party cheap battery manufacturers....

@ Firebird, the batteries you bought are not genuine. Last month i bought the same. from some where in china. there are 4 ways to see if its an orriginal.
1. you can check the code underneath the black strip and check this on the nokia website
2. the holographic sticker you see is an old one. the genuine one with the n900 has a slightly different holographic picture.
3. On the back of the battery there should ONLY be printed made in china. i had something like "made in china assembled in .....(country)
4. and last but not least, you can remove the black paper/sticker from the battery. batteries from nokia n900 are made by samsung. if it is not printed underneath its a replica.
PS the golden battery 1950 mah is actually a 1200 mah battery. if you remove the golden cover from the battery you will see 1200 mah is printed underneath.
Last advise i can give you. if you really want good stuff spend some more money and be sure to buy it from a trusted shop. else 90% of all the batteries you buy online on ebay or other sites for cheap are ALWAYS replica's. Some will indeed work, but other fail or have a poor quality.
