Hi guys, so a while ago i sold my N900, i missed it greatly and bought it again but from a different seller. I noticed there's a bit of a different between this one and the first one i purchased. First of all, the keyboard keys are smooth on this one, i remembered that on my first one, it had a bit of a rough feel on it, but this one is completely smooth. And also, the rims around the edge of the screen is chromium, i'm pretty sure that on my first N900 it's also the same, but it doesn't look as shiny as this, or maybe coz i haven't had it for too long and forgot, but the keyboard is different different.

So anyway, i remember reading about posts where the newer N900 models/versions, will have PR 1.1.1 pre-installed. My first N900 and my current one both have it installed when i got it, so i'm assuming they're the same but just for a different carrier??

e.g. T-MOBILE and AT&T might have slightly different looking models?? (I live in New Zealand so dunno about this, but i have seen the same phone but slightly different look from both carriers though).

And lastly, this is the most important question. I remember there were posts about how some people had defective N900s, either that or after they updated to PR 1.2, there seems to be more problems for them and it was worse compared to PR 1.1.1.

On my first N900, none of that happened to me, i updated to PR 1.2 and loved it, barely had any problems and i use the phone like crazy. I overclocked it too.

But for this one, i haven't tried yet, but just need to know if there REALLY is a difference between the 2 types of N900 and whether this is the reason y some people have problems with theirs.

About the keyboard its probadly true cause bought my phone when it was first released and after some week the text started to disapear :-( I did not send it on repair cause I thought it would take time to get it back.

But after five months it was the keys was a disaster alot of text was gone so I finally decided to get it in repair. And when I got my phone back the keys was for sure different seems they have improved the shelter.

ABout the upgrade you should install PR1.2 for sure else alot of new apps will not work in the future.

I have both and the obvious difference I noticed was with the keyboard...

The older one has a smooth keyboard
The newer one has a rough feel.

For me, the N900 makes other smartphone feel like a "stepdown"..... simply had to get another as a backup.

So ur saying, when you had the N900 with the smooth keyboard, you've had problems with it such as when you text, it doesn't show up properly or just having problem with using the keyboard in general??

Oh aye?? Is there anything different in the actual phone or hardware itself aside from the keyboard?? I noticed that my current N900 has 27GB, whereas my first one had more than that, maybe around 28 or 29GB.....

is there any official changelogs or documentations to describe the difference between the 2, other than the obvious keyboard texture difference?

"2 * 2180mAh lithium ion rechargeable batteries (actual 1200mAh)"
That's a real confidence builder. The 2180 mAh battery is really 1200mAh. But hey, it does JAVA!!!!! Yes, that is a different kind of N900 for sure.
