I deleted the line: at first it seemed to have worked but now it's crashing all over again, without the line having reappeared.

ok, i'm rather helpless right now.

maybe a cleanup would be the best solution.

1. uninstall all pidgin plugins first (pidgin status bar) via appmanager
2. uninstall pidgin via appmanager
3. open up xterm and type "rm -r -f .purple"

then install pidgin again and try it. if it works you can try to add further addons if you like to.

mhm... if you have "rootsh" installed:
(if not: install it via app-manager)

1. open up xterm
2. type "sudo gainroot"
3. type "apt-get purge pidgin"
4. type "apt-get purge libpurple0"
5. type "apt-get autoremove"
6. type "apt-get autoclean"
7. type "apt-get install libpurple0"
8. type "apt-get install pidgin"

mhm... if that doesn't work... then you maybe should reflash your device. :/

Perhaps I was too hasty. The crashes seem to be back at a lower frequency. I won't mess around with root while I'm on vacation, but I might try it if it gets too annoying again.

Thanks for all the help.

It's gone back to its constant crashing again. I've tested further and it seems to be exclusive to my account. What could possibly be wrong with my account in particular? Every other client I've tried can handle it.

would be interesting if pidgin on a computer can handle your msn-account. can you try this?

Now the native "Contacts" app with the protocols plugin is crashing on me.

This only happens when I'm online, and even then when I scroll past a certain point, but it's still very frustrating.
