Android/iOS get new games, apps and features everyday

Maemo has practically no support from third parties, in fact Maemo is still trying to get basic functionality tacked onto it, for apps you can pretty much go look elsewhere

The core of a product is functionality, in other words: by nature Android/iOS > Maemo then

    Come again?

I can buy those apps and I'm about as common of an user as you can get.

By my logic 3 releases in 9 months is either support or it's not. So which is it?
    Keyword: updates

    Android actually gets new features

Maemo gets halfbaked bugfixes and functionality that should've already been there in the first place

I agree he's exaggerating, saying it's "no" support. My main beef with your argument was your technical posturing. You just need to make a better argument.

How good that update support is also depends on whether they're actually fixing problems or delivering new features that users want. I can positively claim that these upgrades on the Droid have each been significant (arguably dramatic, really) upgrades with the exception of the one patch update to simply fix up some Droid-specific bugs. It's possible they were just as significant on the N900? I have my doubts, but please go ahead and tell me (seeing as how I don't follow N900 updates... I'm still waiting on N800 updates and a suitable upgrade path).

But then, I'd argue that the BIGGEST support problems Nokia has aren't software related.

Features like tethering? Opps, Droid won't get that. Or features like multi-tasking? Opps, Gen1 iPhones won't get that with OS4...

As for the updates, yes there were bug fixes in the updates for N900. There were new features too (skype video calls for example). Lots of small features, just like the small feature changes and fixes from 2.0 to 2.1 in Android.

    Or like the oft-promised Flash 10.x for N900? Ooooo...ffffffffffffuhhhhh

(By the by, I get USB tether just fine on my Droid and never had to root it)

Droid with custom ROM already has tethering

    Nokia 770 can't install Maemo 5/4 either

N900... don't even get me started on this bad boy

In the end, really...the question is--would you buy Nokia as your next phone? I might buy MeeGo but I almost certainly wouldn't buy Nokia because of the lousy support--for me, that support mainly revolved around customer support, communication, service, parts/repairs, accessories and community open-source sovereignty. Not necessarily in that order of importance.

Can always get onto the command line and run a ray tracing app.

imovie for iphone has been getting good reviews for video editing.

As apps for iPad try to take over laptop functions we will see greater complexity (desktop quality) applications.

Woody has great difficulty dealing with things that are not binary in nature you will find.
