Just noticed, that if you turn javascript off on MicroB-browser, it's two times faster than javascript enabled.. So might this simply be the reason that Opera is so fast, 'cause it doesn't have javascript?
opera have javascript. At least with diablo on the N8x0 seires, there is a known issue with non-optimized JS performance in microb. This because nokia could not wait for mozilla to get to optimizing, and bundled a alpha with the diablo update. Its one of those areas where i wonder if the community ssu can help, but its hard to tell as the microb ui is closed.
... However, the device and operating system has a big impact on the final behavior, especially how accurately the mouse move events can be timed....
This makes sense.
But I think that the final practical result and not the algorithm, is what whe have to see.
What I see is that in android I can scroll a very long webpage with four or five "flicks" on the milestone but I need nine or ten of them to scroll the same web page on the n900.
I'm aware that this is matter of personal preferences, but I'm just notice that the final result is different.
What about a configurable setting to make everyone happy ?
P.S. Please don't take my comments as complaints, I'm just giving my feedback to help Opera to get better.
Opera Is already the best browser for maemo (as happen in any of the other platforms supported), but surely can be further improved.
Works great on my N810 tablet, very fast and responsive!
One major problem: when I connect to Internet via my phone (Nokia E71) by means of bluetooth, Opera shuts down as soon as the connection is established. When I try to restart Opera, it won't run anymore. Only when I use my local WIFI connection, Opera is running fine. Any idea what might causing this strange behavior?
By the way, is there a way to jump to the end of a web page? There are no scrollbars and for very long pages I have to scroll down many many times to get down.
Just want to let you know this issue is solved with the latest release Opera mobile 10.1 beta. Thanks a lot!
Is there any shortcut to get back to the start page?
And I miss backspace-shortcut to get to the last page. Are there any other shortcuts via HW-Keyboard?
How can I change the google search to use the german google-search?
Thx.
In the moment opera is my favorite browser on the n900!
*Bug report
Since this thread is enormous, I don't know if this has been discussed already..
I can't upload files from hidden folders (folders don't show up)
/home/user/MyDocs/.sounds (Audio clips)
/home/user/MyDocs/.documents (Documents)
/home/user/MyDocs/.images (Images)
/home/user/MyDocs/.videos (Video clips)
(However, they do show up when downloading)
I've made symlinks in /home/user, but these have peculiar behaviour in Opera:
- When I select the path to the Images folder, thus selecting the symlink in /home/user ('Home' in Opera), the dialog closes and the symlink shows up as a file in the browse box on the website.
Screenshots:
- When I click 'browse' again, it shows the contents the folder where the symlink points to (in this case /home/user/MyDocs/.images). A C++ pointer behaviour :P
It also shows the name of the symlink at the top (images), not the real name (.images or Images)
Screenshot:
- But then the browser doesn't place a '/' after that, so instead of opening the folder /home/user/MyDocs/.images/Screenshots, it opens 'imagesScreenshots', which doesn't exist, and is obviously empty. Same goes for images in the folder, they become images01.jpg, in stead of 01.jpg.
Screenshots:
So.. please make the hidden folders accessible for uploads, and fix symlink behaviour. Thanks a lot in advance!
