I had the same problem. I fixed it by following the instructions posted in Comment no. 14 in: https://code.google.com/p/scim-for-m...s/detail?id=23
---
"1. Download rootsh
2. open a web browser and come to this current page.
3. open your X-terminal
4. type -> sudo gainroot
5. copy and paste -> rm -f /etc/event.d/scim
6. copy and paste -> /usr/bin/gtk-query-immodules-2.0 > /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules
7. Off and on your phone again.
This is what I've done to make my virtual keyboard work again. (I am using PR 1.2)
After step 5 and 6, there is nothing that will appear to show you that smth is actually being done, so just continue.. I hope it will clear some of your doubt and make ur phone work again.

The best way to save face is to keep the lower half shut
