i did a apt-get update/upgrade on the terminal and heres what i get... some are kept back... nothing serious tho but just askin...

In short: you're not supposed to do apt-get upgrade on n900

why not? thats what the default application manager does

afaik, thats because the dependencies tree in extras-* is not polished enough

Acccording to this web page it's because the dependencies of the package(s) have changed.

And also that "apt-get dist-upgrade" is not recommended thing to do. If you are in doubt use official application manager. If you like testing then test and be prepared to flash your system when things hit the fan.
