Hi,

I have recently bought a N900. Am trying to update the device software with the latest version and have been reading up on this since.

There are quite a few resources - but I am getting confused with the various versions.

My questions is: What is the eMMC image? Do I need to flash it along with the Global image?

Please let me know

Regards,
Radha.

Short answer, you only need to flash the rootfs image - the global one if that's what you prefer.

The eMMC image has things on it like the 9 movie trailer, some images, sound, and so on. Not a whole lot of any interest really.

About the only time you might want to flash both the rootfs (global image) and eMMC is when you want to completely wipe your N900 back to original settings.

The following file (the latest at the time of writing) is the one to look for: RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin

On your computer you would run something like:
flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

Plug the USB lead in to your phone while holding down the u key, then wait for the flash to happen. Phone will reboot, job done : )
