I've noticed that while my n900 wifi works fine at many public hot spots, the wifi rarely works at barnes & noble and other hotspots at big chain stores. It does some enter pin thing--which never works--and, by actually going to ask staff at these places, the wifi *should* work automatically w/out any extra steps besides making sure the wifi switcher is on and picking one of the available connections. So, I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this and/or knows a solution. I'm particularly curious since I have yet to want to pay those ridiculous data plan prices (in the US), and I only use the n900 web & data features when at such public wifi spots. Thank you.

I think you have to set it up manually through settings > Internet connection. It's a bug (sadly won'tfix by Nokia) that involves WPS one button routers.
