Ok... Can you re-run this when having at least one instance of drlaunch? I want to see which libraries are being used.

Also, a wild guess: Is there anyone which sees the hildon-home crash and is not using the plastic theme?

Oops, It seems I closed the widget by mistake. Here is my new try...

The theme is quite popular so perhaps there is something to this theory. You haven't tried installing the theme yourself?

FWIW you can use Desktop Activity Manager in order to save and restore widgets after such problems. Either by changing the activity or by using the command line utility.

OK, there are some findings. I'd like to see the output of this:

    Code:
    $ dpkg -l python-hildon  python2.5 python2.5-minimal

I tried installing in in maemo SDK and it failed to install. It also screwed it somehow because of the failed installation, so I'm hesitating to install it on N900.

One more thing: Can you please try this:
    • In a command prompt run as root:
      Code:
      # dpkg -P drlaunch
      # rm -f /usr/lib/hildon-desktop/drlaunch_widget.py /usr/share/applications/hildon-home/drlaunch.desktop
      # cd /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/
      # rm -rf drlaunch
      # cd /usr/share/pyshared
      # rm -rf drlaunch
(this will remove drlaunch and any stale files)
    • Change the theme to something else (perhaps the default)
    • Reboot the phone -or- using desktop-activity-manager change the activity and then switch back (IOW: restart hildon-home without loosing your widgets)
    • In a command prompt run as root:
      Code:
      # apt-get install drlaunch
      (this will re-install drlaunch)

    See if the problem persists.

    10^6 thanks for helping!

This works great. I could add more than one instance on same desktop and be creative.

    I have more samples here.

OK, first of all sorry for not being able to get back to you sooner. However, it seems as if the theme is causing this behaviour, as you suspected.

I uninstalled, changed theme and reinstalled (according to instructions) and all widgets remained. Furthermore, the widget doesn't jump desktops when entering the settings.

If you need any help with further testing, just let me know!
