since then, i've uninstalled autodisconnect entirely, and i simply switch 3G off manually when i'm not using it.
i haven't received a 'internet connection unavailable' (not sure of exact wording of error) prompt since, nor have i had to subsequently choose a net connection. everything is simply working as i expect it to.
something was definitely broken, possibly with autodisconnect and the 2G/3G switching app... the phone was previously staying in 3G mode, even when 'GSM' was selected. no such problems anymore.
this change, along with setting availability status to 'offline' (skype, gtalk, msn) has ensured that i can get a day from the battery while still using the phone normally (a few short calls), some text messages, maps, lots of e-mail.
only thing is, i'd like to maintain connectivity to skype, gtalk & msn, if possible, while still ensuring a full day's usage is available on the battery. does anyone else have experience on this and is this something that should be or can be made possible?
You will double your drainage by every extra client you use. So use only one and redirect your friends to that.
I have about 24-48h of usage sometimes more if i need. So it would be possible to get more than 12h. One thing you should consider is overclocking and undervolting. It could improve your battery charge a lot.
thanks for the info. i'm going to try and understand the phone & its capabilities vs. battery usage a bit better before i start applying more drastic tweaks.
