Talking about processing power - each wallpaper eats its own ammount. Videos are pretty heavy, Matrix is quite light.
Oh, I see.
Just tried Live Wallpapers on my N900. Seems pretty decent app. I have overclocked my device to 900 mhz and 1 screen with animated wallpaper seems to be an absolute maximum.

So still lot of work to do with this...

I wonder if all that makes android's live wallpapers to run smoother is code optimization?
Plus maybe lighter actual animations?
Because overclocked N900 should for sure be powerful enough to run these.

Would 3200 x 400 videos work if they existed?

Good God - why would you use that - just resize the thing ... lower the load on your N900

Tried using the app for two desktops which I normally use... Works absolutely fine on both... OC'd to 850 MHz in ideal profile. Thanks for this awesome personalization tool!!

What video format are you using for your live wallpapers?

Try this from a previous post of mine and see if this improves performance.

Live wallpaper seems to like an mp4 encoded file best.

So i converted some .mov files to mp4 set at 800x480 resolution at 30 fps with bitrate set to 1200 kbps

i used 'super' video converter and the results are good.

Try these samples i converted from the link below.
