Hello. I just recently got my 770 and have been tampering with it, however I would like to do the following:

Install IT 2007 HE on the MMC
Keep the original OS on the built in flash
possibly have multiboot to choose which one to use

I have found all the guides but I find them to be linking all over the place
and saying that its " soo simple " just doesnt make it any easier for me to understand.

Anyone willing to help a poor fellow 770 owner out? =)

Well I have gotten sofar as to get IT2007 HE installed, gainroot installed and xterm. Im working to figure out the MMC partitioning system, also I noticed a bug within Xterm, when I press erase it puts white squares on the line instead of erasing the letter I just typed, the letters are physically erased but it doesnt show on the line as I can press erase enough and then hit enter for a blank line. Highly anoying >_<

And ofcourse im gimped because all wifi networks I find is secured and I have no tools available to crack them. At best im gonna try to use my phone bluetooth to try gprs downloading.

My journey to multibooting my 770 has all but begun~

*edit*

after chewing a couple of mb and trying to install the e2fs I end up getting
"Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporaril)
Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is ano?"

Any hints or clues? :S

*edit 2*
Manual install of e2fsprogs fails when trying to configure it, unable to create the executables.

after reading the conf file I think I can conclude with not having a c compiler. Now to figure out how I do that

*edit 3*

Well I have gcc installed and everything should be fine there, still dont know why the compiler fails. ( I might aswell just use this as a notepad since no one replies )

*edit 4* Found info on the specific error code, installind linux headers to try to fix it.

Answer for edit 1 - close down the application manager when performing a manual apt-get install.

Answer for edit 2 - see answer for edit 1, you seem to be heading down the wrong road, why are you installing the sources when the binaries are available???

Answer for edit 3 and 4... wtf? What are you trying to achieve here? Have you installed gcc in order to complete the installation of e2fsprogs???

Here's a really simplified guide for cloning the OS (2006, 2007HE or 2007) to MMC/SD card - I suggest you follow it and try not to over engineer a solution!

Over engineering is how it gets when I have no idea where im going. I managed to discover an eternal loop of missing dependencies. I'll try that link and see what I make out of it.
