Exactly... I just started to have the same problem. My N900 would be fully charged when I went to sleep and by the time I woke up the battery was all gone. I noticed that sometimes I have the same process listed many times, and if I close it just restarts... Killing the process seems to solve it temporarily, but not completly!

The process or processes that are eating up my battery/memory and cpu are related to the browser/internet.

Have you installed something that adds something to browser (like adblock or something similiar). When you are killing browser&browserd are they eating constantly cpu even after you have closed browser? Have you tried to clean cache?

I've had hildon-input-method consuming a large chunk of my cpu cycles in certain circumstances when editing textboxes in microb, particularly in gmail. Had to kill to stop cpu wasting.
Now I'm using modest to write my email and the problem seems to be over.

Yes exactly. The backlight is always on! It's one of the symptons... I uninstalled many news apps I installed during this week. Maybe it was the new google voice app?

I was having a similar prob...
battery draining v fast as cpu was @ 100% most of the time with internet connected..
in my case ...conky was showing telepathy haze as the culprit which was taking up over 90% cpu....first disabled MSN haze...but didnt make any difference...so disabled twitter plugin for contacts and conversations....now everything is normal, no battery probs...

for me it only happened once i left it plug in the charger when i woke up its beeping being low on battery but the only thing i notice is the skype through conversation draining it, it really slowed the n900 having 1860 unread msgs in the chatroom... i cant reproduce the problem again.

Just reflashed twice with UK most recent firmware using the flasher still not working.

my phone starts like its brand new with the set the time, date and country - although all my messages are still on the phone, and in xterm hildon-input is still in there running my processor to well over 70%

how should i reflashed my N900 so that its brand new as if i bought it brand new?

    Thanks.

You have to flash both firmware & eMMC. Be careful since this job will erase everything on your N900 restoring it as brand new, hence loosing all your datas
