hi,

since yesterday i have my N900, i bought it after watching tons of movies on youtube, it is a brilliant phone.

When i got home i made connection to my wifi and tried to get on the browser. But is wouldn't work, i installed firefox and that one does work.. very strange. But i cant use OVI maps, or anything that goes through the standard browser...

Another problem i have is with my conversations App, when i receive a text message i go to the App and i can see all my conversations... like everybody, but whe ik click on one of the conversations i just get a black screen, so i can't read anything... i still have the App bar on top and the typing bar on the bottem, but in the middle where all received and sent text should be, the screen is just black...

What can i do, i just have the phone and i really don't want tot have it repaired because the i have to wait 3 weeks.... Please help..
Thanks mattijs

hmm sounds really odd. Try taking battery off for some minutes and see if that helps. also if you dont have PR1.2 update you can try installing it before taking n900 to the repair.

Have you updated your phone Firmware to newest? PR 1.2?

So basic website do not work with default browser? Like www.google.com etc.? Have you tried to clean cache (from browser top menu)? Or restart phone?

when i try updating, the phone says 'no updates available', so i guess i got the latest, but it might also be because i can't acces default web browser... on the other hand i am amble to install applications, accept from OVI... weird again

I have also tried rebootng and removing the battery several times...

I'm gonna go to the nokia store tomorrow and hope they can fix it by maybe resetting the firmware or something...

is just messed up i can't do those basic things after spending so much money...

You can check the installed maemo / FW version from ->settings -> about product -> Version 10.2010.19-1

Have you tried browser in any other Wifi than your home? Do you have data connection on your mobile account? Possibility to check if browser works on that?

I have Version 10.2010.19-1

I tried the wifi connection at my sisters place, it didn't change a thing
I also got a 3G connection but is still have the same problem, only firefox is able to browse the web..

the internet isn't biggest problem, not being able to read your text messages is worse the moment...
The strangest thing of all is that i can't find anyone on the web who has had similar problems..
I really hope there gonna be able to fix it in the store!

btw. You haven yet said that what kind of problem you have with browser. Is it:
A. It doesn't even start
B. It starts but doesn't go to any webpage.

If B then for example try to go webaddress:
74.125.39.105
Itīs google but in bit different format.

Then the problem is probably in your internet connection. I suggest you try a different connection (a bublic wifi or GPRS/3G). If it still doesn't work I suggest you reflash it (doing it yourself might be faster) or just take it to Nokia and let them do it if you don't think you can do it yourself.

i dont think i can do it myself, guess it is safer for someone else to do it.
Do you think they can do it in the store or will they have to take it for a couple of weeks?
