I just updated to the latest firmware this morning and notice that LeafPad and Mirage can't be installed. I'm very new to the N800 (this is day 5 I think), so I'm not sure how to get to a log file to find out what failed (perhaps someone more knowledgable can find that), but, well, they don't seem to install.

You get the logfile from a menu entry in the application manager.

Can you install Python? A lot of us are having issues with the installation. Doesn't Mirage depend on Python?

Nope, I get a message saying I'm missing libffi4 - for both python and Mirage.
Leadpads error was different - saying it can't find the installation files (the log says the checksum for the package was incorrect - not the exact words of the message, but the gist of it)

... and I followed the instructions on this post (http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...9522#post79522) to install the libffi4 package and I got the same error as the original poster - incompatible software version.

'incompatible software version' appears to be a misleading message. it really should be 'not found'. It seems to be in the repo, but not in the Package file: apt-cache policy shows nothing, it should show http://repository.maemo.org/...<etc>

Also see my posting in the other thread:

I tried again to install this morning, and it all worked fine. Perhaps it was 'new install' blues after all.
