Here is the budget Alcatel OT-980, to be released at under £100 in a months time:

It runs android 2.1 + 2.8" screen, 600MHz. Nothing amazing about the specs but I thought it might be interesting to show the range of the market Android has access to vs other smartphone OS's.

More like Android "Pre"
Or the old XDA

Hasn't heard of Alcatel for years now. They tried Android as their magic ticket to smartphone market ?

Yeah, I am pretty sure its their first 'smartphone OS', and you are right its touch screen size is more akin to the Pre! Looks a bit like the £570 blackberry torch though:

And I had that XDA, the blueangel, 3.5" portrait sliding qwerty was way ahead of its time.

Was an awesome phone when I got it.

Yep, 3G too. I kept it long enough to put Windows 6.5 on it which is amazing considering it came with Windows mobile 2003. I got it for reading books but it was only the fast scrolling larger res and screen devices that sorted that out for me! I never got the XDA exec though but that looked pretty cool at the time, it was extortionate on contract.
