I think this has been discussed many times before.

When set to auto-connect, the phone will establish a connection whenever there is any connection available, be it Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G/whatever. And that connection will stay more or less "dead", there will be no traffic.

The conclusion from previous threads was/is that this is intended behaviour.

Just open microb and try browsing, if it asks you to choose a connection, it doesn't work (;

Well, as powerful as the "Power Search" option is, I couldn't find any thread about this. So thanks for pointing this out.

So now the behavior is clear. Always connected is too much sacrifice of autonomy, so I will stick to "connect every hour" routine I am used to.

As far as I understand autoconnect, it means to automatically
connect if a network (GPRS and/or WIFI) is available and
not only if a connection is requested.

i tried this one a week before and its kinda annoying.

i set up auto-connect settings to a 5 mins interval and same as auto-disconnect.

what happened, for 5 mins, connects to w/c ever connection is available, in 5 mins idle, will auto-disconnect, and doing the first and second thing simultaneously.
