I see there's a s/w update I don't have. Actually, I'm still using 2.2006.51-6

So I go to Nokia Support to get an update and I read that I need a Windows PC or Linux machine to do this(?).

Why? Why can't the update be accessed via the N800 direct via its' browser?

I don't have a PC or Linux box. I use OS X.

Pissed,

It could be worse, you could have bought a device that needs iTunes for upgrades.

Let us know if it works. I downloaded the flasher.linuxppc (I run linux on my mac) and it doesn't work

Fortunately, my son has an x86 linux machine I could use.

You don't even need iTunes to flash the firmware on those devices. Just like you don't need Windows to flash the firmware on the n800... fantastic what a health community can do.

At least then it would just work.

I've flashed my 800 with Linux, Windows and OS X. Windows is probably the easiest to flash from, followed closely by Macs, then Linux. None of them are really that difficult, would be waaaay cooler if you could just put the update on a mmc card and update from there. Works a treat on the Zaurus.

Soon there will be a simpel upgrade on the device (I hope...) Since everythings deb shouldn't be that hard to do it.
