My Nokia N900 calibration is so bad that when I tap the left of the screen, the device thinks I'm tapping the right of it. I can't tap anything in the center of the screen either. I can't even get to my settings to try and fix the problem. Help?

You're not holding the phone upside down are you?

But first off, what firmware are you running? (If you can find out.)

There is an app in one of the repos that's supposed to fix a bug in the screen calibration.

I'm not quite the expert that the majority of guys here are, so someone else should be along to help a bit more.

I wish I could tell you but I don't know which firmware I'm running. It's so frustrating when I want to go to the menu and tap that icon on the upper left corner and all that happens is a customization of icon on the desktop menu.

i think the app for fixing calibration is defunct since pr 1.2 since the issues were addressed in the update.

whats more worrying is that you cant get to the settings, is it merely because of the poor calibration? perhaps its a consistent distance from desired location and a bit of trial and error finding exactly where its off will get you where you need to be?

i know xterm can be accessed by a keyboard shortcut, and perhaps an expert here would know the command to open the calibration settings from there?

It seems that I can only tap on the right screen and can never touch anything on the left because it still thinks i'm touching the right part of the screen thus making it impossible to access the menu. What does xterm do?

Xterm gives you a terminal where you can type commands. It's pretty much essential.

Damn, I definitely need to know how to use that to access the settings on the device.

You can get to xterm from the keypad by pressing Ctrl+Shift+X.
You may be able to do something from there.

When I opened up the X terminal, the problem seemed to solve itself. I really hate this randomness. The calibration problems like this happen to me all the time but this problem seemed to last the longest with the fewest solutions to solve it. Thanks guys for the help.
