Nimbuzz? I will give it a try.
I think it is very likely that skype support will be removed from all 3rd party skype clients on android. They recently removed it from Fring.
Not sure if Maemo will also be a target.

You can also use sipdroid if you have a PBX that can connect to skype to make/receive calls. Of course this is less straight forward than an app that is designed to do this!

I've honestly had very little luck with Sipdroid - but that's not saying much. I probably overlooked a lot while trying it.
