I am planning to buy a Nokia N900.
I can only get a 2GB plan with a Nokia N900 here in Austria
(everything else costs extra).
Do you think that is enough?

What is your experience (monthly use)?

I've just read in this forum that the assisted GPS needs internet connection - I hope, this is the only functionality beside surfing that needs internet...

Obviously depends how much you use it.

I use mine extensively including tethering and would say 2GB will be fine if you don't tether or stream lots of tv/radio.

There is a datacounter widget you can install to help you monitor it each month.

I have a 2Gb cap and while theathering would eat it up I find it perfect for the phone. I have constant e-mails coming in, an ssh connection open all day ever day, I watch news and tv while in traffic (about an hour a day) and still never go over the 2gb limit.

MY battery on the other hand lasts half a day due to this activity.

I download a lot of podcasts (some video ones that are 250 megabytes), do file transfers with my ftp servers, and am constantly looking at websites.

I´m using 1.3-1.4gb per month now since December.

Most of my heavy downloads probably happen while at work or at home, but still that´s my average. I do tether probably once every two weeks on average as I travel around areas with otherwise patchy internet connections.

actually this isn't solely english forum. yes it would be nice to have all the posts in an universal language but here was one thread almost entirely in finnish some time ago.

it might be that I understood the post well but I don't mind having other languages here.

Point of the post in English: when not tethering, 2gb should be enough for almost anything...

German: of course, but I keep the postings in English so that other people understand it. ;-)

I thought the N900 has a native FM receiver (and sender) and does not need Internet radio (except if you want to listen to foreign stations)?
