i installed the theme carbon, which i thought was actually pretty cool, but then my n900 started self-deleting all my contacts.

i have tried uninstalling it, then re-syncing my contacts, only to have them still disappear, and then finally, today, i completely reflashed my device with NSU.

    but.....still, they are dissappearing!

does anyone have any information to maybe help with this?

    thank you.

For some reason, it sounds like a problem with the emmc, try reflashing with the emmc vanilla image?

sometimes i get the same error. try to delete all contacts from the nokia communication manager. select all contacts, press delete key, then refresh the list. make a new contact from the phonebook directly from the n900, save it, refresh the nokia comunication manager, then sync again. if it doent work the sync file can be corrupted. if u can see the numbers in the nokia communication manager, export all of them in the csv format its better have a great day

    will do and report back.

this is why i always have a back up and always make sure that i have all my calendar and contact information on my outlook!

my main concern is not losing my contacts, but not having them while out and about!

thanks for the work up suggestion. ill try now.

    didnt work. still disappeared.

if i flash the emmc, but before, i copy all of the files to my memory card, is it possible that the error can be in those files?

my thought was to just transfer the files back to the emmc after i flash.

    also,

would it matter if i restored from a saved backup to be sure that i get all of my settings and communications and applications settings?

please correct me if i am wrong, but doesnt the back up only store the list of files and where to dl them from, not the actual files?

    thanks again.

    i just downloaded:

    RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8.002_PR_COMBINED_002_ARM.bin

should this be good enough? will that flash completely wipe my device to the latest version? i saw a "vanilla" but it was the original version from when i purchased the device back in november.

I also have this issue, but I didn't notice the issue being the Carbon theme, but it was straight after I reinstalled all my applications (which included carbon) so it's more than likely.

I re-flashed the OS image, but neither the internal or SD memory. I don't have time to do it now but I'll report back when I do and tell you if it fixes it or not. Cheers.
