ok so I used the version quole made available. as yum was working I assumed he used your posting to "fix" the repos. but since his version did not have a successful yum groupinstall Base and yours did I guess I need to reread your posting. and no have not tried the skipbroken yet (hopefully after coping your repo files I will not need it). thanks.
I just deleted the rpm caches and rebuilt the database, I didn't modify the repos. Try that, and see if that gets you a working system. If it does, I'll make the changes in my posted version, too.
