That makes the 2 of us, my usb port is loose so I charge the battery via my trusty 5800xm. I will return to Nokia once all is backed up. Mr Elop has work to do for sure.
Another thing to point out is when the phone is switched off and i connect the USB lead the dim nokia screen comes up and for a few seconds the USB symbol shows up in the top right corner and then the phone loops with the dim nokia screen and booting dots.
Does this show that its not the usb socket that is the problem but could be software related and a complete reflash could solve the issue?
Today I discovered the left side of my usb port was tilted by about 1mm, and wouldn't charge without a slight press on the plug, I have gently bent it back down slightly and I can now charge, Suggestions? Epoxy? Could I open the N900 and resolder the pad or do they generally ruin the solder pads on the pcb? I bought my N900 Back in February from Newegg.com So it should still be under warranty, but from what this post has shown I probably wont get anything done by a RMA.
iRealized this morning that my ENTIRE charger point has GONE!
Is this covered by warranty as it wasn't a result of mistreatment?
iRead earlier on that apparently it has something to do with the early models of the phone and I was one of the first to receive one.. Any verification on this?
Thanks for your help!
EDIT:
WOAH just realized the charger point is still on the USB, its not even lost inside the phone.. This is messed up =(
I swear if Nokia doesn't repair this I will write an angry letter to an exec and NEVER buy another Nokia Product as long as I live.
uh oh......hmmm......should be covered by warranty. and yes, i read bout the other thread with same problems and wonth fix his n900 coz he is in Canada.
im in Canada as well, i filed down my charger and Data cable so maybe that is why until now, i can use it.
