Anyone have a tip or suggestion on the volume level adjustments on the N800? I find that when sitting at my very quiet office desk the radio at the lowest setting is too loud for me. I also don’t understand why the device sound setting effectively mutes the radio if you go below about 30% (on the device level adjustment) when the radio is one notch above its (separate) lowest sound setting. I use in-ear plug-like headphones so this may be not help, but my mp3 player has a much wider choice of level adjustments and I wish the Nokia was more sensitive. Am I out of luck?
    Thanks for reading.

there are two levels of adjustments: one from home and one from the player.

Have you tried to adjust from the home screen yet?

On the contrary, i find the volume to be a bit low at times.

To be fair, BBC 1Xtra is always too low, even on the highest volume setting. I have no idea why.

I think my original question made it clear that I understand there are two ways to adjust the volume....
My mp3 player has a radio as well. It has the volume level separated into 30 gradations. I estimate that the radio on the N800 corresponds to about a 12-13 on my mp3 player. I usually listen to the radio at about a 6-8. I guess my ears are more sensitive than others. And again, it does depend on the setting. My office is super quiet. If I am walking around town it needs to be louder. Oh well....

What you're saying is, you'd like there to be more gradations between mute and low?

I believe you can achieve this if you set one volume control to low and then use the other volume control to navigate within this space.

Perhaps the best approach would be to start with the player volume at 'Max', and decrease the device volume as low as it will go, while still being audible. Then, if it is still too loud, decrease the player volume until it is comfortable. I suggest this because as you say, with the player volume low, you can only get the device volume down to a certain level.

Guess it's just not possible. Either way one will make no difference in volume and cut out at around 30-35%.
    Bummer.
Maybe headphones with their own volume adjustment....?

Incidentally, I had the exact same thoughts yesterday evening when listening to the music with my in-ears!
I tried to combine both volume controls, but found that the sounds gets suddenly muted/cutoff below a certain threshold - even if there is still ample "room" in the volume control to go louder.
Perhaps a Nokia guru knows if this is a "problem" of the audio chipset?

The different volume between various internet radio streams is a problem for me, too, when using a standalone Noxon 2 player. Switching between channels also needs volulme adjustments.
