thanks guys.

I'm curious as to what are the average MEM% shown for your phone??

I only have one desktop and a couple of widgets, so i'm not even sure if 7.5 of MEM% usage is normal or not, sometimes it even peaks to 9......i don't have calendar widget on it, only icons like Opera, MicroB, OMWeather and some other ones. OMWeather being the only widget that updates in real time (although i set it to update manually). But i don't have any other real-time updating widgets like RSS or Conversation list etc...

Htop is more accurate (see Ubuntuforums URL for explanation), and Htop is easier to configure and use. Fire it up, and press 'h' for (h)elp. Gives you an oversight of the toggles.

@shadowz1337 dont worry too much about mem usage. It only makes a difference when it force your system to swap, and that dont happen but after 70%

btw. Here is one python script that tries to give as good as possible estimate about memory usage:
http://www.pixelbeat.org/scripts/ps_mem.py

To run it you have run following command in xterm as root:
python <script name>

oh aye? Coz i've seen so many threads about certain processes, the most common one would probably be the hildon-desktop or hildon-thumbnailer, where the processes run so high, and all this relates to battery drain which is my concern in the first place. I've also had problems with the thumbnailer, even using tracker-cfg and using the settings suggested by others still doesn't help much, my N900 drains battery so fast it's like driving a Bugatti Veyron with full tank of gas, and after 5 minutes BAAM! The car's dead.

I've also set the swappiness to 30 and done everything possible, but just don't understand why some processes like the hildon-desktop run at 6.5~9 sometimes........or should i be looking at the CPU instead?? I can't determine what else is hogging the battery other than just this one process, and hildon-home as well....

In general I would say that remove all applets and widgets if you have any performance problems. Then one by one start to install/enable them and see how system works.

If you have time read this trough:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8723
Even thought itīs wontfix there is nice guides how to debug system.

..edit
To debug battery performance please use powertop. Search forum to find more. Also there is some info about powertop in wiki.,

What you mean by log?
It outputs collected data after IIRC 30 seconds to screen.
Generally if you want to output something from screen to text file you can execute any command with ">" and filename:
<command> >logfile.txt

Wiki entry about powertop

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=47

Also itīs advisable to run powertop at least 3 time in row so that you get some sort of average result.

ya by "log" i mean to output the xTerminal results into a .txt file so i can paste it here. I'm not sure what to type in for the command part in <command>. I just want to output the result to a .txt file on MyDocs (internal storage).

Currently i'm getting 2062 for the total wake ups, which is apparently insanely high.......

<command> part is just any command in x terminal.
powertop >powertoplog.txt
ls >dirlist.txt
etc.

When you start x terminal you have to first change directory to Mydocs and then run command of your choice and output it to filename of your choice. Then you can see that filename from n900s own file manager.

Rather large wakeups. But please read links from my previous post. When running powertop you have to make n900 as idle as possible and to be able to compare results you have to run it always in same conditions!
