I think there have been official or at least semi-official commitments to something like PR1.3 to be released at some time. I think there will be an update released someday, regardless of whether Bigfoot is coming to tea.

Looking through the thread there is no solid evidence to support the theory that PR1.3 is likely any time soon.....

E7 is underwhelming I think but wouldn't it be cool to have maemo installed on it...so thin in comparison to brick like N900. Don't get me wrong I love the N900 (even with its problems and lack of support) but its just a bit chunky.

E7 form factor would be brilliant with Maemo I would buy today if this was possible...

With all of the focus on the new devices, key management changes, why on earth would 1.3 be coming out anytime soon? Even when Nokia had semi-focus on the N900, they lagged in their efforts.

Nokia adopting Android would be more likely than 1.3 coming out anytime soon.

BTW, OVI store is the saddest, half ***** attempt of a market evah! My sympathy is to non-tech folks that rely on the N900 as their main and only smartphone. Great media player, none the less.

added:

Sorry, the Flash 10.1 issue still has me ticked off. I have a lot of fun Flash games that would play fine on the N900, but too slow with Flash 9, but play fast on the Incredible with Flash 10.1, but no keyboard. Irony!

You assume people working on Maemo can easily be moved on Symbian or Meego projects. Probably some developer are working on Meego, now, but since evidence of some work on Maemo is available, it is likely they still put an eye in Maemo.

And having Qt 4.7 available in Maemo is going to help Nokia have a few applications ready for Meego when it will ship.

Looking on PR1.2 quality, I', afraid PR1.3 will be even worse.
Meanwhile, I hope PR1.3 will solve nasty bugs introduced in 1.2.

I think we should stop the obsession on PR1.3 right now before it grows and then we go mad about it..

Well, that's the hope. We'll likely get that from Nokia but there's always the possibility you could have a company like Motorola roll up and lock things down on you.

Definitely a buyer-beware market these days for anyone who likes to step outside the bounds of what device manufacturers have in mind.

The E7 is for business oriented stuff, for people who really want/need MS Office, Exchange, encryption anti-theft, that sort of stuff. Maemo, as cool as it is, is not really meant for the businessman type of user.

What are the major PR1.2 bugs, that should be fixed in PR1.3?
