is there anyway to keep album art from being displayed in kagu? ive supposedly erased all album art according to windows , but the images that keep coming up are what are , in windows , the folder thumbnail for each genre Ex. for my whole "metal" playlist , which plays from the "metal" folder, an image of a rob zombie album is displayed no matter what song is on , i find this very annoying. how can i get rid of these images?

deleting all images from /home/user/.kagu/covers and re-running scanner (with download options disabled, but no need to do a full scan) will work. though it will still get the album.jpg and folder.jpg's from within the folders.

seperating each artist in their own folder is usually the best way to go concerning images and artists ("various artists") grouping. in 1.0.9 we changed the artist grouping logic a little but there's still stuff left to do before we can roll the release.

I myself, in spite of earlier misgivings, have come to like to see the album art -- providing that it's remotely accurate. When I rip the CD using Windows Media Player, the cover art initially displayed is most often the right one (or near to it). But the Kagu cover art scanning most often turns up completely wrong cover art (sometimes ludicrously -- and embarrassingly -- inappropriate). I know that WMP and Kagu download their cover art from different sources, hence the probable reason for the disparity. But I'm wondering if there's some way that I can secure the correct cover art, as WMP does, and replace the cover art installed for each album by the Kagu scanning. Is this -- or will this be -- possible?

i partially agree with the above post , if it would display the correct cover for a song ( if it had one) and if it didnt just display a cd icon... but overall , id rather just be able to see nothing but a cd icon...but then again this is coming from the same guy that does everthing he can to delete id3 tags also... im totally anal about how my songs are displayed to me

Munky: I think we're essentially in agreement -- we want our songs displayed in the fashion most useful (and pleasurable?) to us. As I said, I've come to appreciate seeing the cover art, if it's correct. If not, then I think I'd prefer to go your route -- no art displayed at all. Just the facts, Maam!

as the kagu user manual states:
"The scanner also looks for album (not artist) art in the form of cover.jpg and folder.jpg images in the same directory as the mp3 file."

a disable-ugly-heuristics mode will be added to scanner in 1.0.9.

Disq: Thanks for your useful clarification. However, does "the same directory as the mp3 file" mean the album directory? And which takes precedence in the scanning process, the .jpg images in the mp3 directory or those listed separately in the Kagu cover file? Regards, Jim P.S. Now, if only Kagu would pick up song name-change edits I've done, the same as the N800 media player readily does, then I'd be even more pleased with Kagu than I already am.
