Indeed! At 7" with a higher resolution, the Dell Streak would be a major contender to the Tab for me. It seems like a well built device and has gotten tons of praise! Plus it has WAN capability, which is a requisite for me.

I wonder why many (most IMO) companies can't seem to get-it-right with hardware design. Even if they were to mimic a company that has made good decisions, it would be better than nothing.

Good design is a major reason I'm stoked for the Tab -- Samsung has proven that they know how to craft a good experience, and a wonderfully balanced device with the S. Previews of the Tab have been tremendously positive, which is inspiring. I feel confident that when I use the device I will genuinely enjoy my experience rather than to perpetually dream of the potential.

The screen is nice with wonderful viewing angles. The capacitive touch is supposed to be superb. The speed of the UI and the main processor are more than satisfactory. The battery life is amazing. While I occasionally become tempted by a Tegra tablet on the horizon, I remember that processor speed is just one spec, and it takes far more than speed to leave me feeling satisfied with the experience.

Yep. Several times, for a few days now.

Thanks for the link. Tegra 2 is great.

Screen resolution of only 800 x 400 is not so great.

I already have a 7" 800 x 400 tablet and web page view is the same as the Streak just bigger and not so clear. It may be better for watching videos and photos though.

On the basis of that screen choice alone I would opt for the Tab, even if it costs more.

I sincerely hope there's some type of skinable, multi-touch keyboard for Android, that stays on screen but maintains minimal real-estate. It would be great if it were possible to select different profiles as well. I really want to play these games from bed on my Tab:

This game is amazing. It would have been a hit back in the 8/16-bit days.

This game is just pure brilliance.

Of course, this one is also incredible.

    Woah! Check this out:

Users that complained that the recent Engadget article entitled "Samsung Galaxy Tab feature tour reminds of just how pocketable it isn't (video)" was unnecessarily biased and focused on one small aspect of a well delivered ad, had their comments completely censored (removed without warning nor explanation)!

Being one of the individuals that commented, I was shocked to learn of this. For a site as large as Engadget, this is simply unacceptable.

    Thoughts?

Awesome! Thanks for the link. I love the fact that it was HD and full-window. I think this is how I'll create my links from now on!

I'd just like the add that I think that ad is f***ing brilliant. It's light, colourful, happy, and does a great job of highlighting key features. Samsung is going to be major player in this space.

Here's probably the first video review of the unit. Not terribly informative, but interesting nonetheless for those that can't get enough info on this device.
    http://www.youtube.com/v/1kN8rviaBLY?fs=1&hl=en_US

    The reviewer mentions that:
    - the reviewer owns an iPad and mentions it ocassionally
    - the reviewer likes the form factor and can imagine it as a commute-friendly device.
    - the reviewer enjoys the e-reading experience (especially with the flippy pagey animation).
    - the reviewer likes that he can get at files on the Android system
    - the reviewer likes watching video on the device.

The review was generally positive albeit light on information!
