Guys, thank you all very much. It's solved my problem neatly, and now all of my contacts are finally uploaded into Google Apps and de-duplicated and synced with the things I want them synched with.

Great Maemo community on here, really appreciate all the help that you've given.

the easiest way is:
osso-adressbokk-backup -e /path/file.vcf
